If you're interested in what the Greater Omaha Genealogy Society is planning to work on for the next five years (The past five years was the migration route into Nebraska, and look what happened!):

Microfilm goals
1. Finish the migration route through 1880 into NE (essentially NY, about 300 reels of film--we finished 90% of our initial goal.)

2. Finish regional states through 1930 (those surrounding NE plus OK & MN).  We have 3 finished through 1920 already, CO & KS are  done through 1900, with significant numbers of film for 1910 & 1920. OK is done through 1900, with some film for 1910 & 1920.  We won't know the exact totals until April of 2002, but estimate about 643 reels.

3. Begin working on completing the entire US through 1900.  Just over half of the states are already complete through 1880, with a full 16 states already
finished through 1900.  This is about 2652 reels.

Total reels to add: approximately 3295, since we don't know exactly how many are involved in 1930.  (We had a goal of adding 3105 in the previous five years and added about 5300--just not all in the migration route.)

G.O.G.S. can't do it alone, hasn't done the above alone.  Interested
genealogists who use the facility can help by donating used films they have finished with that the library doesn't have, or money to buy new ones either
through the Society, or directly to the library.  Together, we'll all find more ancestors.
