FITCHBURG- Edward J. Arsenault, 87, of 195 Madison St. died Saturday night, Feb. 28, in Leominster Hospital after an illness.
He was born Dec. 29, 1910 in Amherst, Nova Scotia, Canada, the son of Andrew and Helen (Chiasson) Arsenault, and came to Fitchburg in 1961.
Mr. Arsenault was a cabinet-maker for 73 years and self-employed for 61 years. He was a cabinetmaker for 12 years for Granger Brothers Inc. in Worcester before he retired in 1975.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, the St. Joseph School Association and the former Franco-American Social Club of Cleghorn. He was an avid fisherman He leaves his wife of 62 yrs. Laura E. (Gallant) Arsenault; two sons, Leo A. Arsenault of Fitchburg and Yvon A. Arsenault of Bakersville, N.C.; two daughters, Rita R. Girouard and Hele L. Arsenault, both of Fitchburg; a brother Leo Arsenault of Don Mills, Ontario, Canada; nine grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
