Census Records of the United States

To the right are the census images that have been placed online at Ancestry.com. Some of these census records are indexed; some are browsable. Ancestry tells me that eventually they will ALL be indexed! At a recent visit to their headquarters near Salt Lake City, UT, I observed the process with which the scans are made. MILLIONS of census images go through several processes each to get the best possible digitized image. These scans are more readable than the microfilm! What an enormous undertaking!
