Judy will receive your query for obituaries from the following counties in Kentucky:
Fulton, Hickman, Graves, Carlisle and Marshall Counties from the
"Jackson Purchase Area", of western Kentucky.
Judy lists her resources:
"I have access to marriage, census, and obits, in all of these western Kentucky counties. Also, I have a database full of ancestors and descendants on the following surnames, from the 'Jackson Purchase Area', that I will be happy to share, if anyone is interested:
MOREFIELD, KEELING, YATES, CLAPP/KLAPP, ROGERS/RODGERS, BYNUM,
BROWN, GORDON, WIGGINS, RHODES, CLEMENTS, SPICER, COLE
- I have an original copy of the 100th Anniversary Edition of "THE HICKMAN COUNTY GAZETTE", published April 30, 1953, in Clinton, Kentucky. This newspaper has 140 pages jam-packed
with history of towns, biographies, schools, churches, businesses, etc.
- I also have an original copy of the Sesquicentennial Edition of, 'THE HICKMAN COUNTY GAZETTE', published September 30, 1971, in Clinton, Kentucky. These newspapers include the
history of the 'JACKSON PURCHASE AREA', and the 'carving' of 'HICKMAN COUNTY',
into the eight counties of the JP Area that now exist. The counties of Ballard, Calloway,
Carlisle, Fulton, Graves, Hickman, Marshall and McCracken make up the area in western
Kentucky known as the 'Jackson Purchase Area'. There is much information
on the two small towns, in Hickman County, as we know them today, of 'MOSCOW'
and 'COLUMBUS', which were giants in 'their day'. I would be most happy to share
the contents of these newspapers with others who may be interested."
