Marilynn Holm

Marilynn Holm, 76, of Medford, died Friday (Feb. 13, 1998) at her home. Arrangements will be announced by Perl Funeral Services-Siskiyou.

Nicholas Haller

Nicholas Haller, 82, of Phoenix, died Saturday (Feb. 14, 1998) at Providence Medford Medical Center. Arrangements will be announced by Perl Funeral Services-Siskiyou.

Jean Gaynor

Jean Gaynor, 73, of Medford, died Friday (Feb. 13, 1998) at Fountain Plaza. Arrangements will be announced by Memory Gardens Mortuary.

Wyatt E. Keene

The memorial graveside service for Wyatt Eugene Keene will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Eagle Point National Cemetery. The Rev. Jerry Gilmer, chaplain of the Veterans Affairs Domiciliary, White City, will officiate. Mr. Keene, 76, of Medford, died Thursday (Feb. 12,1998) at Three Fountains Nursing Center.

He was born Oct. 9, 1921, in Frostburg, Md. The family moved to the Rogue Valley when he was a baby.

A carpenter in construction most of his life, Mr. Keene last worked for Dumas Laundry in Medford.

He was a member of the Carpenters Union for 30 years.

During World War II he served in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting.

Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Crumm, Medford; five step-daughters, Yvonne Sarvis, Debbie McGrath, and Toni Apted, all Medford, Patty Moonie, Kalispell, Mont., and Darlene Adkins, McKinleyville, Calif.; a brother, Fred, Medford; two sisters, Rhoda Parrick, Seattle, and Val Sanderson, Portland; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Three sisters, Audry St. Arnold, Mickey Kindred, and Sally Freeman, preceded him in death.

Adell M. Obenshain

Adell Mathell Obenshain, 83, of Central Point, died Friday (Feb. 13, 1998) at Hearthstone. A private service is planned. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1207, Medford, OR 97501.

She was born Adell Mathell Kyker on May 2, 1913, in Lindsay, Okla.

On July 15, 1935, in Santa Ana, Calif., she married Earl Obenshain, who survives.

She attended the Central Point Community Bible Church and enjoyed sewing, camping, painting ceramics, and writing poetry.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two daughters, Earlene Joyce Wyatt, Central Point, and Paula Jean Pendelton, Roseburg; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Eight sisters and four brothers preceded her in death.

Stella F. Taylor

The funeral for Stella Francis Taylor will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the Conger-Morris Medford Chapel. Private interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mrs. Taylor, 92, formerly of Medford, died Tuesday (Feb. 10, 1998) in Stockton, Calif.

She was born Stella Combs on Aug. 27, 1905, in Fallville, Ark.

On June 26, 1920, in Oklahoma, he married Sam Taylor, who died in 1966. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1951 from Southern California.

She returned to Stockton in 1979.

Mrs. Taylor enjoyed gardening and crafts, including making Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus dolls.

Survivors include three sons, Charles, Medford, Jay, Cave Junction, and Henry, Visalia, Calif.; five daughters, Leona Moorem and Opal Huls, both Chino, Calif., Bonnie Mattingly, Stockton, Carol Smith, Topock, Ariz., and Marlana Butler, Spokane, Wash.; 28 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren. A daughter, Betty Lee Taylor, and two sons, Earl and Ray, preceded her in death.

Robert H. Fenn

Robert Hamilton Fenn, 77 of Medford, died Monday (Jan. 26, 1998) in Sun City, Ariz., where he spends his winters. A memorial service was held in Sun City. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice, 12704 N. Plaza Del Rio Blvd., Peoria, AZ 85381.

He was born May 15, 1920, in Greencastle, Ind.

Mr. Fenn served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He transferred to the Naval Air Reserve and flew Clippers for PanAm, transporting top priority military personnel and medical supplies.

In 1950 he married Shirley Branlund, who died in 1969. They moved to Portland in 1956 and to Medford in 1963.

Mr. Fenn was area manager for Sun Electric in Medford, retiring in 1982.

In May of 1977, he married Margaret Williams, who survives.

Mr. Fenn enjoyed traveling in his motorhome.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three daughters, Julia Atkinson, Medford, Susan Shawhan, Grants Pass, and Janet Harrison, West Haven, Utah; a son, Philip, Bend; a sister, Betty Tenholder, in Indiana; and six grandchildren.

HOEHNER,JANE ELIZABETH (LAKE) Age 86, of Wilmington, DE, died at her daughter s residence in Landenberg, PA, on Thursday, October 7, 1999. Mrs. Hoehner was born March 20, 1913, in Sebewaing, MI, raised in Saginaw, and lived for many years in Detroit and Orchard Lake. Her greatgrandfather, Henry Campau, was considered the first pioneer settler in what is now Frankenmuth, arriving in 1818. Her grandmother, Julia Veit, was the first pioneer child born there. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, William E. Hoehner, age 89; two sons, William L. Hoehner, Mishawaka, IN and John F. Hoehner, O Fallon, MO; daughter, Martha J. Menzel, Landenberg, PA; and 7 grandchildren, Anne Scialabba, Chicago, IL, Jane Hoehner Bastianelli, Berkley, MI, Amy Hoehner, Indianapolis, IN, Michael and Katherine Menzel, Landenberg, PA and Adrianne and Andrew Hoehner, Mishawaka, IN. BOERNER,WILFRED R., Age 76, born in Grosse Pointe Park and long time resident of Grosse Pointe Farms, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 1999. He was a member of the Detroit French Club, active in the Birmingham Rotary Club and was honored by the Daughters of the American Revolution for his volunteer work at St. Joseph s Hospital in Pontiac, Readings for the Blind, and the Braille Institute. He lived for many years in Berkley and in Bloomfield Hills before retiring to Palm Desert where he did volunteer work at the Eisenhower Medical Center. Predeceased by his brothers Alfred and Louis and his sister Marie-Louise Lambert, he is survived by his wife Paula, of Palm Desert, his son John of San Francisco and several nephews and nieces in this country and in France. OGAWA,RAYMOND MICHIO, MD. A descendant of eleven generations of physicians dating back to the 1600 s in Japan, died suddenly in Petoskey, Michigan on Feb. 1, 1999, at the age of 94. He was born July 21, 1904, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Unpaku and Tsuni Kashiwamura Ogawa. After graduating from Maui High in 1921, he was sent to Michigan where he completed his undergraduate degree at Hillsdale College, Hillsdale, Michigan and his M.D. degree at Western Reserve Medical School in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1928 he married Margaret Elizabeth Braund, a R.N. from Brantford, Ontario, Canada, and together they returned to Maui where they ran a rural clinic-hospital for 3 years before returning to Philadelphia to specialize in Ophthalmology. Two years later they returned to Honolulu where Raymond was the first physician in the Hawaiian Islands to limit his practice to just the Eye. In 1962, after 34 years of practice, Raymond and Margaret relocated to Detroit, Michigan, where he began a new 14-year career on the Ophthalmology Staff at Ford Hospital, along side of his sons Gilbert and later Andrew. Raymond s hobbies included deep-sea fishing and "torch fishing" in Hawaii, Salmon fishing in Mich., raising orchids and hibiscus in Hawaii, and roses and day lilies in Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Yoshio, and his wife Margaret, who died July 24, 1998. He is survived by three sisters, Charlotte Yoshioka of Maui, Hawaii, Esther Nakagawa and Winifred Phillips, both of Honolulu, Hawaii; a daughter, Jane Oliver of Manistee, Mich., two sons, Dr. Gilbert O Gawa of Petoskey, Mich. and Dr. Andrew OGawa of Troy, Mich.; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Shirley was a graduate of Lincoln Park High School, attended Henry Ford Community College and earned a bachelor s degree in Special Education from Central Michigan University in 1975. She earned her master s degree from the University of Detroit and attained certification in School Administration at Eastern Michigan University. Shirley had a love and affinity for special needs of students throughout her career as an educator. She was employed as a teacher in the River Rouge Schools from 1975 - 1994 with the exception of the 1985-86 school year when she served as a University Director for the Michigan Education Association. Shirley worked for Wayne State University from 1994-1998, at the time of her death, she was on leave from her position as a teacher consultant for Livonia Public Schools. Shirley will be greatly missed by her husband, Jerome, niece and nephew Rachelle and Rory Cogswell, who were in her care, nephew Yonn Cogswell, step daughters, Angela (Phil) Chartrand, Cheryl McFarland and Diane Fisher, step son, John Spezia, grandchildren Natasha, Ashley, Samantha, Robert, Kristie and Deanna; sister, Brenda (Chris) Booker and a host of other relatives and friends. SUMMERS,EDWIN D., Age 73. Died suddenly March 2, 1999 in Phoenix, AZ. Mr. Summers is survived by his wife of 51 years, Adelaide. Seven children: Cheryl Summers of Atlanta, GA; Mark Summers of St. Clair, MI; Charlotte Eickhoff of Livonia, MI; Kathleen Summers of NAS Keslavik, Iceland; Patricia Baumgardner of Detroit, MI; Jane Summers of Phoenix, AZ and Bernard Summers of Waterford, MI. Twelve grandchildren: 6 granddaughters and 6 grandsons. His mother, Marvelle Towers of Redford, MI. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Retired: Detroit Police Dept. in 1978 from the 12th Precinct/Palmer Park as a Detective Sergeant - 25 years and the U.S. Navy in 1985 - 43 years active & reserve duty as a Sr. Chief Petty Officer. Active member of the : VFW Detroit Naval Post, American Legion Allen Park Post 409, Navy League, Korean Navy Squadron VP 731, Fleet Reserve Association, Knights of Columbus Father Saylor Council, Allen Park, and the Detroit Police Lieutenants & Sergeants Association. Born and raised in Detroit, Mr. Summers graduated from Chadsey High School and is a 1975 alumnus of Mercy College of Detroit with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He was a veteran of WWII, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam with the U.S. Navy, and participated in the 1962 Berlin Airlift. He was also a member of St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Livonia.
